30 years ago my new girlfriend and I traveled from San Francisco to Puerto Vallarta and had a fantastic time...it was very inexpensive and you could lounge at the beach all day for nothin!
We were very cautious not to drink the water because we were warned not to, or we would get sick.
We went to a really nice restaurant for dinner on our third day...the waiter told us we could drink the water because it was filtered.
For the next three days we were violently sick....oh yeah....we got to know know each other very well during those three days.
On the evening of the 3rd day we heard a knock on the door...it was the nice German man next door who had heard us hurling and whatever other sounds one makes when you are that sick...he handed us some pills...we swallowed them...a few hours later we were back on our feet and camped out in front of that restaurant warning everyone we saw not to drink the water.
This was 30 years ago.....I'm happy to report that you can basically drink the water everywhere now in Old Town Puerto Vallarta.
Things are a little more expensive now....but there are so many great restaurants and beach clubs...
We're happy to say that it is still the greatest place to go when winter hits.
check out our places, and if you're interested we can tell you the best places to go for relaxing, food, entertainment ....and we'll also tell you that you can drink the water :o)
